My Favorite Spots To Eat In Mesa Arizona

One of my favorite places to visit in the US is Arizona. Much more than the arid desert that most think of when they imagine the state, Arizona is home to beautiful forests, stunning red rock mountainsides, and of course, the Grandest of Canyons. But when traveling through this beautiful part of the country it’s important to stay grounded and drink in some of the local cultures and get a good shower in-between long hikes and enrapturing views. That's when it is time to head back to civilization and get some food rest and some good food. Mesa Arizona, the sister city to Phoenix is one of my favorite places to stay because not only do I have friends there to share in my adventures and swap stories with, it also has some of the best food the state can offer. Also here is a short but definitive list of my favorite spots to grab a good bite to eat when I am in town

India Oven

If you love Indian food as I do, then you know that good Indian food can be hard to come by, especially in Arizona where the Indian community doesn't have a large foothold like its neighboring state California. India Oven is a fantastic restaurant tucking deep in the heart of Mesa. serving handcrafted and family-style dishes, this restaurant takes the cake for the best Indian in Mesa. Don't forget the garlic naan!

Organ Stop Pizza

Despite its name Organ Stop is a great place to get some quality pizza that's a level above the big chains. They also have great entertainment. It's a wonderful place to go and meet people after spending time out in the beautiful countryside of Arizona. I and my buddies often meet there to have a few beers and a few laughs before making our way to some of the downtown bars in the area

Casa Ramos 2

The best margaritas in town. Full stop. And I have tried most of the margaritas in Mesa. not just that but they also have great carnitas and freshly made guacamole. I hate the store brand stuff and can tell the difference when it is made the same day by people who know what they are doing. Plus they use my friend's kitchen hood cleaning company in Mesa, and he tells me that their kitchen is one of the cleanest and professional places he has ever worked at. And I think that having a clean kitchen is super important when I'm going out to eat.

Hood Cleaning Tips from a Pro

The other day I was traveling to my friends house in  Salt Lake City. we got to talking about his small business and we had such an interesting conversation I though i would take down a few of the more interesting things he had to say. Hopefully his knowledge can come in useful for you in the future!

The importance of hood cleaning is essential to a kitchen’s success, especially if it is a restaurant kitchen. These types very often and consistently see various types of food being cooked on the burners. Grease and gunk can accumulate in the hood and cause serious fire and health hazards. Typically, a hood cleaning is recommended to be done every 3 months, but it really all varies on usage and types of food being cooked on. The restaurant manager will typically get this taken care of and schedule a professional cleaning hood company that will come inspect and maintain the integrity of not just the hood but other aspects of the commercial grade kitchen like filters, exhaust and general cleaning. Many companies nowadays have the ability to submit the compliance documents that are required with the Fire Marshalls showing that the hood and others kitchen necessities are up to municipal or state fire code requirements.

Depending on the condition of the restaurant or commercial kitchen, a deeper cleaning may be required, costing the business owner more money than if regular maintenance was done prior. If you are considering a company to hire, make sure they are licensed or certified professionals. Always check their credentials and ask questions about their techniques and supplies such as what chemicals will they use to clean? Most companies use industrial grade cleaners and degreasers, these will create better penetrations on tough stains. Using common household products will not do the job so the contractors upgraded cleaning tools are well worth the money spent to get this done professionally and make sure fire and safety codes are met!

Recycling While on the Road

As someone who travels often, I found that when I was on the road it was increasingly difficult to stay on top of mu recycling and waste cleaning habits. I meet travelers all the time that have issues with the same habits. With this in mind, I wanted to make a list to help other travelers stay on top of their recycling and stay earth positive to help keep this beautiful planet clean while we travel and enjoy all of the natural beauty it has to offer. So here are my 5 tips for staying earth-friendly while on the road.

1. Plan Ahead
When you are researching a campground or hotel, its easy to get distracted by other subjects, but one of the most important things is the facilities recycling policy. Always try and research what you can and can not recycle through the venue that you plan on staying at. Then, once you know you can make sure that you don’t bring items that will be just thrown into a dump when you leave
2. Bring Out What You Bring In.
This is an old saying because it’s always been a great policy for travelers and campers alike. If you can make a plan to be able to hold all of your trash with you until you can leave and get to a facility that can handle the various plastic that you might be caring with you, you can put yourself in a great situation to recycle
3. Choose Your Bottles Wisely
Keep in mind that not all containers are created equal. Some plastics are not a recycle friendly as others and if you can avoid buying them, you can avoid having to find a way to get rid of them.
4. Keep Our Tops On
Remember that once the top of a plastic bottle is off, it can easily be lost or discarded. So try to keep ahold of it until you are finished with your beverage. Then once you ready for a recycling trashcan, put that top back on and you will have zero waste.

5. If All Else Fails Call In The Professionals
If you have found yourself with some larger items that need recycling, then it is probably beyond your capability to know what to do with these items, especially if you are in a city or town that you are unfamiliar with. That’s when the help of a junk removal service can come in handy. Most companies can haul away even the largest items, like washers dryers or even mattresses.

I Sit Down To Have A Chat With A Good Friend About His Business In Orange County

Picture
If you have done as much traveling as me, then you know how much a good and comfortable bathroom can mean the difference between feeling safe and comfortable and roughing it. One of the many things I have learned in my recent travels in the States is that, when you are on the road, a good bathroom is hard to come by.  I wanted to outline what are some of the things that I look for when I am in the market for a portable toilet and I’m going to do so in this article with the help of my good friend Oliver, who actually owns his own porta potty rental company in Orange County CA.

Ollie and I met years back when he was backpacking in Scotland and us because of fast friends. As luck would have it when I found my self calling in favors on my trip across the United States, Ollie was there to help me and gave me a place to stay. While with him I thought I would pick his brain on his business and see if I could help out my readers with some important information if they ever find themselves hosting an outdoor event or need a bathroom for a construction site.

Harris: So Oliver, what are some of the things that people should know when they are looking to rent a portable toilet?
Oliver:  Well Harris one thing I would want to say to people before they even start thinking about the portable toilet is the time frame.  Most portable toilet companies operate with his strict amount of portable toilets that they lease out to customers. A lot of The Times they don't want to carry too many portable toilets in their back house so it's a delicate balance of timing So one thing I would advise right off the batt is to call in advanced maybe a few weeks in advance when you looking to rent a portable toilet to make sure that the company is going to have what you need.

Harris: That's sound advice. What kind of porta potties are most people looking for?
Oliver:  To be honest most people would be just fine with a standard porta potty. I say that because most of the calls that I get are people that are holding charity events or having a company barbecue. Believe it or not, portable toilets have come a long way in the past 10 years and most of the toilets that you'll see on a construction site or at an outdoor event will be comfortable they won't smell that bad and will be robust. Now if you're looking for something that will simulate a normal toilet you are probably looking for a more deluxe flushable toilet.
Those are great for restaurants that are Renovating their bathrooms and need a quick solution that will keep their customers happy while the construction is underway.

Harris: Well that's good to know. How many do you recommend people get for the size of there event?
Oliver: Well that depends on a couple of factors Harris. For instance, is food going to be served at this event? Is it going to last all day or into the night or is it just going to be a few hours but it for a typical family barbecue we think that 1 porta potty would be fined for about 50 people. Now that actually changes if you're going to be serving alcohol because most people are going to need to go to the bathroom once they start drinking. If you're gonna have a large event with over 100 people where food and drinks will be served we recommend 2 or even 3 portable restrooms depending on the length of the event.

Harris: Gotcha, so then if the person has a good idea of the type and how many porta potties they would need for a one night or for a few days, how about the folks that are looking for more permanent structures?
Oliver:  That's a good question. if we're talking about a construction site that could be operational for months on end our service had or OC Porta Potties does provide Porter potties for long periods of time. We have a service that will come out and clean out the tanks and even clean the inside and the outside of the porta-potty on a weekly basis so that your toilet can stay hygenic. The last thing anyone wants is a smelly toilet on a construction site. But if you're out looking to actually purchase a porta potty that's kind of a different story. Most porta potty rental companies like mine will only rent out Porter potties and you'll need to buy a porta potty for a campsite from a wholesaler. But even then our services can still be called to come and help you clean out and maintain your portable toilet
